The Tuloso-Midway High schools and Middle school choirs have been invited to sing the national anthem by the Houston Astros. The game they have been chosen to sing at is the Astros versus the Texas Rangers on Sunday, July 29th for 1:10 p.m. game time.

Dr. Guadalupe Rivera, Tuloso-Midway’s Choir Director says although the Astros told me that they never go for groups outside of the Houston area, there’s still a catch to sing the nation’s song before America’s favorite past time.

"You have to send in an audition. And then they ask you to sell tickets to their game. And so, I thought, okay that’s going to be the hard part."

The choirs had to sell 350 tickets for the Sunday game, and many of the students were worried how they would make it work.

But, with community support, they are now down to 75 tickets remaining.

Dr. Rivera is conducting a classic version of the Star Spangled Banner, and his entire choir is excited for this amazing opportunity.

"So many people just being surrounded and like looking at you, like that’s, that’s crazy and it’s insane and it’s such an amazing opportunity, like I can’t stress that enough. Like it’s so freaking cool," says Emiliano Flores, Sophomore choir student.

For the choir to receive credit when tickets are bought you must go through their website: https://groupmatics.events/event/Tulosomidway. Tickets are $27 and must be purchased by Sunday, July 22.

If someone would like to upgrade their tickets, please call the ticket salesman at the bottom of the page on the ticket website.
