A 38-year-old Corpus Christi man was sentenced to serve three years in federal prison following his conviction of possessing stolen mail.

U.S. Circuit Judge Gregg Costa handed Escobedo a 36-month sentence to be immediately followed by three years of supervised release Thursday morning.

In a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office of Southern District of Texas states,"In handing down the sentence, the court noted that the four counts of conviction represented only those mail theft victims with camera surveillance on their porches and that Escobedo undoubtedly had numerous additional victims."

Christopher Escobedo admitted back in March to stealing packages that were left on the front porches between last New Year’s Eve and January 8th of this year.

Police say it was video surveillance and a witness that helped postal inspectors identify Escobedo.
