CORPUS CHRISTI, TX –  Expect some traffic changes along a small section of Alameda Street beginning this Friday, July 20.  The city is starting the work outlined in the Bond 2012 Alameda Street Improvement project.

Here are the traffic changes to expect:

Alameda Street, between Louisiana Avenue and Cole Street, will be converted to ONE WAY northbound.

Southbound Alameda Street will be CLOSED TO THRU TRAFFIC at the Ayers Street/Staples Street intersection. Only local southbound vehicular traffic will be allowed in the closure, and at Cole Street, will be forced to turn left or right.

Northbound Alameda Street vehicular traffic will shift to the newly constructed pavement on the east side of Alameda Street starting at Louisiana Avenue.

Southbound Alameda Street, local vehicular traffic, will shift to the newly constructed pavement on the west side of Alameda Street starting at the Ayers Street/Staples Street intersection.

The city reminds drivers to use caution when driving near the work zone and follow detour signs. Motorists should expect delays and if possible, seek alternate routes or avoid the area. Access to local driveways and side streets will be maintained throughout the duration of the project.
