It can be quite the challenge for the elderly and disabled to seek medical attention, especially without transportation.

However, there is a solution that is not only benefiting patients but care providers as well.

The techs drive in what may look like an ordinary van but it is what’s inside that has been helping the elderly, disabled, and those that are homebound.

The company has been servicing the Coastal Bend for the past 30 years.

X-Ray On Wheels has a total of four vans, each equipped with vital items like a digital X-Ray machine, a wireless radiography cassette, and a laptop to look up and record patient information.

Services include EKG, echocardiograms, bone density and even ultrasounds.

Medical professionals say this service is not only beneficial to the patient, but also to the medical staff as well.

“I think at the end of the day, you know, I go home feeling that I have fulfilled a sense of purpose in life,” Jamie Dominguez who is a certified radiology technologist says.

X-Ray On Wheels is located at 4929 Burney Drive, and is planning an expansion of their service in the near future with more vans and equipment.
