Members of the Mathis community attended a special memorial service for a well-known individual Ramon Gomez.
Gomez passed away early July 2018.
Hundreds of people filled the stands at the Pirates Stadium.
All to pay their respects.
Many say despite having special needs, Gomez was able to live his life to the fullest.
Ramon Gomez was a major fan of the Mathis Pirates, so it was only fitting to have his service at the high school.
Several city leaders shared how Ramon’s iconic personality will be missed and will be carried in their hearts.
Many sat and listened as some of Ramon’s songs played at this memorial service.
This hitting the family too hard from holding back tears.
Those who knew Gomez say he was always trying to make new friends. Which could be the living proof of how he was embraced by so many, and loved by hundreds more.
Gomez was 46 years old.
