Romeo was born with a very rare genetic disorder called Ectodermal Dysplasia. It affects everything from his skin, to his nails and his teeth.

Special Report: Meet Romeo, born with Ectodermal Dysplasia, a rare genetic disorder

His condition is so rare, that he’s never met anyone else like him but that’s all set to change, this weekend.

Tomorrow (Thursday) Romeo is stepping out in a big way as he and his mother Tina are flying to Portland, Oregon to attend a family conference called "Bridges to Inspiration".

For Romeo, meeting others like him have been very important and also to his mom.

Tina Lara, Romeo’s mother said "For him to be able to meet children like him, I know it’s going to give him a sense of peace and he is very happy with who he is as a person but I know this will boost his confidence, even more, seeing children that go through what he goes through every day."

The family says this couldn’t have been possible without the good Samaritans who helped them raise enough money to attend the family conference and paid for their flights. A deed that has not gone unnoticed by Romeo.

Romeo said, "Thank you very much because without Y’all this would not have been possible."
