The Corpus Christi Army Depot held a dedication ceremony this morning for a ship model that represents an important part of CCAD’s history.
The model is of USS Albermale, a World War II sea plane tender that was decommissioned in 1960 and then later recommissioned as USNS Corpus Christi Bay.
USNS Corpus Christi Bay served as a helicopter maintenance ship during the Vietnam War.
The widow of Army Staff Sergeant Donald Wollek had the model made nearly 20 years ago in honor of his service aboard the ship.
When her husband passed away, she decided to donate the model ship to CCAD, where id will be displayed along with other artifacts from the ship.
