National Weather Service using Snapchat to monitor storms

Hashtags like #ccspotters and #stxwx are helpful tips for National Weather Service members to stay updated when severe weather strikes. 

However, these hashtags are most commonly associated with Facebook and Twitter. 

The National Weather Service team discovered a new way platform to view live visuals of a weather event in the Coastal Bend and even around the world. 

Snapchat, the well-known app will let the public post any weather condition that may be happening in their area. 

When posting, residents will have to option to post on the “Our Story” tab. 

Just depending on your settings, leaders with the National Weather Service can view the specific location of weather event is taking place.
