Two Corpus Christi residents are facing serious charges after police discovered a man and a woman that was riding in a stolen vehicle.

Police made the discovery in the 300 block of Cheyenne Street just after 8:35 pm Sunday evening.

Officers say they pulled the stolen vehicle over and as the car came to a stop, the passenger, identified as 31-year-old Mack Hinojosa, fled on foot from the scene.

Police say they arrested the driver, 30-year-old Olivette Lopez-Cruz, and she was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Meanwhile, other officers responded to the neighborhood and searched for the passenger that took off on foot. Police later discovered the suspect close to Zavala Elementary.

Officers said they arrested Hinojosa and charged him with evading arrest. Police also discovered Hinojosa had an outstanding warrant for his arrest because he violated his probation.

Both were transported to the City’s Detention Center and taken over the Nueces County Jail.
