Fire crews responded to a two-alarm fire at a rental property on Padre Island following a fire at the same building earlier in the day.

Both reported incidents occurred at a multi-tenant rental property in the 15000 block of Bonasee Court on the island.

There, a call came in at around 10:30 p.m. reporting a fire in the building. Corpus Christi Fire Department (CCFD) crews responded, noting that another fire had been reported in the same building about 12 hours earlier. It was said to have been electrical in nature.

On arrival, firefighters worked quickly to secure the building and contain the fire. Due to the risk of the fire spreading to other units, officials upgraded the fire to a two-alarm status, calling for additional help to address the blaze.

At the scene, Captain James Brown with CCFD said the fire took around an hour to get under control. He added that firefighters had not yet discovered the source of the fire.

An investigation was ongoing at time of writing. The cause of the fire was not known and CCFD were still working to locate the property’s owners.

Officials said no one was injured.

This is a developing story, we will provide further updates as we’re able.
