Officials have confirmed that Los Palominos will perform at the Shrimporee festival in place of the late Jimmy Gonzalez.
Rosemary Vega, with Aransas Pass Chamber of Commerce, made the announcement on Thursday afternoon, adding that Los Palominos would be making a last minute adjustment in their schedule to perform at the show in honor of Jimmy Gonzalez.
Gonzalez had been scheduled to perform at 8 p.m. Saturday evening at the Aransas Pass Shrimporee before passing away on June 6, as we’ve reported.
Now, Los Palominos will fill that slot. The well-known Tejano band, which signed with a Freddie Records subsidiary in 2016, won both a Grammy award and a Latin Grammy for Best Tejano album for 1999’s "Por Eso Te Amo" and a Latin Grammy for Best Tejano album for 2006’s "Evoluciones."
