The Boy Scouts of America Troop 3 have helped youth in our community make ethical and moral choices in their lives for more than a century. Today, the community has a tasty chance to give back.
Troop 3 is hosting their 51st Annual BBQ Event today to raise money for camping equipment, securing campground sites for the scouts and help with upkeep of the trailer and scout hut.
First United Methodist Church has been a sponsor of Boy Scouts of America Troop 3 since 1916, and you can pick up a plate of tasty BBQ at the church today for the fundraiser.
"By purchasing a plate, you will be helping to support the troop’s long-standing tradition of scouting in South Texas," troop officials said.
The BBQ event draws in thousands of supporters each year from the community.
Plates are available for pick-up only from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. and again from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Plates are $9 per person an include a half chicken, beans, coleslaw and bread.
