200 television and radio commercials featuring Country and Western Singer George Strait are set to air in Austin and San Antonio next week. It’s part of a comeback campaign called "Find Yourself in Rockport-Fulton".

12 billboards just went up in Houston, Austin and San Antonio, and newly designed brochures will be mailed to visitors centers across the state. The brochures show which hotels are open and where you can go for a day trip.

"We’re starting to see activity, events and things happening in our community more then ever before," said Diane Probst, President, C.E.O of the Rockport Fulton Chamber of Commerce.

Before the campaign, about 500 of Rockport’s 1,300 businesses were open. Now, more then 900 are ready for business.

"We’ve already got extra inventory, so just in case, which we hope that it will be good," said Dovie Howard who owns a shop called For the Birds.

The Rockport-Fulton economy relies on tourism. Now the advertising campaign can show what the area has to offer.

The campaign is focused on people from San Antonio, people who take day trips, and people who fish.

"Fishing is very good right now and that word gets out and so we’re excited that people are day tripping here to fish," said Probst.

The "Find Yourself in Rockport-Fulton" campaign was funded by a $250,000 grant from the Rebuild Texas Fund.

Services donated also made the campaign possible.
