Next month, golfers from across the nation will be coming to Corpus Christi.

On Wednesday morning, the Nueces County Commissioners announced the National Pan American Golf Association Convention and Tournament will be held in Corpus Christi from July 30th through August 3rd. Eight hundred golfers from 44 cities will take part in the annual event.

The local chapter, which holds an annual Christmas party for West Oso students and holds free golf clinics for area students, says it can’t wait for the festivities to begin.

"It’s exciting for us because no one hosts a party like Corpus Christi. In the national organization, we are the movers and shakers. We come up with a lot of creative things and they look to see what is Corpus going to do." Pan Am Golf Association Chairman Terry Longoria said.

Longoria said next month’s tournament will be held at Gabe Lozano Golf Course, Oso Golf Course, Corpus Christi Country Club, River Hills Country Club, Northshore Country Club, and in Rockport.

If more people sign up, they may have to use the golf course in Sinton as well.
