New details have emerged in the case of a drowning earlier today at Labonte Park.

Earlier today, rescue crews responded to a report of a man was missing after having jumped into the Nueces River from a train trestle near the park.Witnesses told first responders that the man was part of a group that was fishing from the bridge and had to jump when a train came toward the trestle.

However, those reports were not entirely true.

Investigators have now learned that the group was drinking on the train trestle, when the man decided to climb down to a lower level.

Witnesses now say the man slipped and hit his head as he was falling into the water below.

Rescue crews searched for the man, and found his body a few hours later.  His identity has not yet been released.

Authorities say they will continue to investigate the incident.
