It’s parade time. But, in this case, you do the marching.

Over the next two weekends, you can check out the hard work of home builders across the Coastal Bend at this year’s Parade of Homes event.

The 22nd Annual Parade of Homes kicks off this weekend, and if you are in the market for a new home, this showcase is for you.

The 2018 Coastal Bend Home Builders Association’s Parade of Homes will have prospective home buyers shopping for new homes while others are shopping for ideas or just dreaming.

"The annual Parade of Homes is the best of the best of the new homes that are built here in Corpus Christi, and we have 35 new homes that will be featured this year by 26 builders," said Coastal Bend Home Builders Association’sExecutive Officer Wendy Herman.

Parade tour-goers will get the opportunity to see the latest trends in home building design, floor plans, architecture, and state-of-the-art technology.

"Over time, things have changed. The insulation has changed, the type of windows have changed. It’s all about the new technology that we provide these days. The AC units are a lot more efficient, higher seer which gives you more efficiency, lower electricity bills, programmable thermostats, programmable light bulbs as well. We also have more efficient windows, double pane windows that keep the heat out of the homes. We are doing foam inside the attics, which also keeps the heat outside the homes. So it just all depends on what you are looking for, but as an efficiency, these homes are a lot more efficient than they were about 10 years ago,"said President of MPM Homes Moses Mostaghasi.

The Parade of Homes is also a great way to give back to the Operation Finally Home non-profit organization.

"The event itself is a fundraiser for our organization. But the proceeds from the ticket sales, we donate to Operation Finally Home. So veterans returning from war or injured veterans can get the homes they deserve as well,"said Herman.

The multi-site Parade of Homes event’s two weekends of family fun will kickoff June 1st-3rd and continue on June 8th-10th. The parade is open from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. Friday- Sunday.

"The homes are located all over South Texas. We have some in Ingleside, Aransas Pass, Calallen, 8 of them out on the Island, and all of them are very different. You are going to see urban chic, you are going to see cottages, you are going to see condos, you are going to see all kinds of homes. There is something for everyone," said Herman.

The homes can be toured for $5 per person, with a portion of the proceeds from ticket sales going to Operation Finally Home, which is a national, non-profit organization with a unique network of experienced builders, suppliers, and supporters dedicated to building homes for wounded, ill or injured veterans, surviving spouses and their families.

They bring together homebuilders, the military and communities to build custom mortgage-free homes for America’s military heroes and the widows of the fallen, those who have worn America’s uniform and sacrificed so much to defend our freedoms and values, providing a strong foundation to help them move forward with their lives.
