Corpus Christi Police Chief Mike Markle will be taking on a bigger role with the City of Corpus Christi.
KRIS 6 News has learned the city has asked Chief Markle to oversee the Parks and Recreation Department, Health Department, Marina Department, City Libraries and the city’s Public Safety Departments. Chief Markle tells KRIS 6 News he will provide oversight on a temporary basis. He will oversee managers in those departments until the city hires a new city manager. Markle says this won’t affect his current duties. He said he will still be working out of his office at the Corpus Christi Police Department.
The additional duties come after City Manager Margie Rose resigned from the city on May 15th. Keith Selman was named Interim City Manager.
