Coast Guard members say law enforcement crews detected and interdicted a Mexican lancha boat crew.

Coast Guard crews say they discovered a lancha with a total of four Mexican fishers engaged in illegal fishing Wednesday afternoon.

One lancha boat, with nine red snappers and fishing gear onboard, was seized. The Mexican fishermen were detained and transferred to border enforcement agents for processing according to the Coast Guard.

Coast Guard Sector/Air Station Corpus Christi say they have detected 158 lanchas, 45 of which were halted, that were north of the U.S.-Mexico maritime border since Oct. 1, 2017.
