Carroll student to join Dallas Cowboy drum line

Posted

Carroll HIgh School senior Jesus Cavazos was just invited to join the drum line for the Dallas Cowboys.

Cavazos auditioned and was accepted less than two weeks ago for the honor.

"It’s pretty exciting. I feel like I’ve gotten a great opportunity to go play with the Dallas Cowboy drum line. That’s America’s team!," Cavazos said.

It’s called Rhythm and Blue. They play at home games and make appearances across the country.

Cavazos comes from a musical family and has played many instruments. The snare drum has been his focus the last two years, and that’s the instrument he’ll play for the Rhythm and Blue drum line.

He will graduate from Carroll in June then move to Dallas for summer training. The season will be over in December, then he’ll decide if he wants to try out again or move on to his dream of going into the U.S. Air Force.

In the meantime, he’s excited about camp and can only imagine what football season will be like.

"You’re just down there, like playing, watching everyone, can’t imagine ’till I experience it how good it’ll be," Cavazos said.
