A hit and run crash has claimed the life of a Bishop police officer.
Pedro Vela was off-duty and riding his motorcycle in Brownsville Sunday to see friends and family when he was struck in a hit and run crash.
He died early this morning from his injuries.
He was a proud member of the Blue Knights Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club and a 2013 graduate of Brownsville Lopez High School where he played sports for The Lobos.
Vela was 22 years old
