Police are investigating after a pregnant woman was allegedly shot before fleeing in a vehicle after a dispute in midtown Corpus Christi.

At around 7 p.m. Saturday evening, Corpus Christi Police Department responded to reports that a woman had suffered a gunshot wound after shots were fired between two vehicles in a neighborhood near the intersection of 17th Street and McKenzie Street.

Officials with CCPD said the incident began as some form of dispute in the residential neighborhood but were not able to confirm details about its nature or cause.

During the incident, a pregnant woman was reportedly shot, suffering what police called non-life threatening injuries. She fled with another person in a vehicle, while a suspected shooter fled in another vehicle.

The victim then drove near the intersection of Ayers and Baldwin where authorities located and transported her to a local hospital. She was said to be in stable condition.

Investigators were still in multiple areas near where the incident occurred at time of writing and had found evidence that multiple shots were fired.

They described the suspect vehicle as a white Chevrolet Avalanche with a black tailgate, seen fleeing the scene. There have been no arrests at this time.

CCPD is asking anyone with information, or who may have been in the area at the time and know details to contact the department’s non-emergency line or CrimeStoppers at 888-TIPS.

This is a developing story. We’ll provide further updates online as soon as we’re able.
