Nearly 1,700 teams compete at Beach To Bay relay marathon

The annual Beach To Bay relay marathon got off to a massive start on Saturday.

Close to 1,700 teams took part in the full-scale relay, which covered 26.2 miles to be completed by six team members.

The route started at the traditional Padre Island location, moving along the Laguna Madre and across JFK Causeway before heading through Naval Air Station Corpus Christi onto the Corpus Christi Bayfront and finally ending at Shoreline Blvd. downtown.

As locals will tell you, it’s no easy route to complete beneath the South Texas sun.

At the finish line, a massive awards ceremony and party was held for participants and their supporters.
