A woman killed yesterday in a shooting of Blevins Street has been identified.

According to the Nueces County Medical Examiner’s office, 45-year-old Esperanza Escamilla of Corpus Christi was killed yesterday in a shooting at a home on the 200 block of Blevins Street.

Her 26-year-old daughter had been charged with her murder.

Officers with the Corpus Christi Police Department were dispatched to the home at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday to investigate a possible shooting.

Officers found two women with gunshot wounds when they arrived on the scene, a 26-year-old and a 45-year old. They were both rushed to the hospital where the 45-year-old later died, according to a release from the police department.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting are still being investigated but officers did say there was a disturbance between the mother and daughter and during the disturbance, both women were shot.

Detectives spoke with witnesses on scene and determined they had probable cause to charge the daughter with murder. She will be booked into the City Detention Center when she is released from the hospital.
