Parents, expect to see an added fee if your student-athlete goes to CCISD next school year. All students who are required to have a physical exam, will have to pay out of their own pocket.

Brenda Marshal, Athletic Director for CCISD says the District is one of the last to still cover physical exams.

Marshal said "We’ve had the luxury in the past, but you know we’ve had some budget cuts and things like that so there were some things we may not be offering anymore."

According to Marshal last year, all CCISD departments had to cut 10 percent from their budget losing about $157,000 from the athletic department including the money for physical exams.

Marshal says the District requires physicals for athletes, cheerleaders, the drill team, band and ROTC so they’ve worked out a deal with Promptu Care offering physicals for $20.

The District is also working on getting a list of free physicals to be offered over the summer.

The discounted rate of $20 is good at any Promptu Care in Corpus Christi, just let them know you’re a student with the CCISD.
