The man accused of shooting and killing a disabled veteran in front of his teenage daughter was arraigned in court.

On Tuesday afternoon, Judge Inna Klein told Aldo Naranjo he was indicted on murder charges. Naranjo pleaded not guilty to murder and asked for a jury trial.

Police say Naranjo shot and killed 38-year old Joel Cunha on the 4400 block Mistletoe Drive on January 15th.

According to Cunha’s family members, Cunha and Naranjo got into a fight after Cunha made inappropriate comments to Cunha’s 14-year old daughter while inside the Stripes store at Weber and Gollihar. Detectives say Naranjo then followed Cunha to Mistletoe Drive where he shot him several times.

Naranjo remains in the Nueces County Jail on $1 million bond. His trial date has not been set.
