Students at one school promised to walk nearly 800 miles in order to get a new playground.
The kids at Smith Elementary School took part in a Walk-a-Thon this morning, promising to walk a total of 773 miles during the event in exchange for donations from family and friends.
480 students took part in that event and they were all determined to replace the school’s outdated playground equipment.
The school’s principal says they would appreciate some extra help.
"Community, we need your help. We are a southside school. We don’t have the funds or the support that a lot of our southside schools do have," Becky Raesz, Smith Elementary Principal said. "So, we ask if you want to donate, Smith Elementary PTA would love to have a little bit of donations so that we can have some nice stuff."
