A man that had just been released from jail stemming from a domestic disturbance went back to the home where he was arrested and ended up leaving with a stab wound Thursday night.

Officers responded to an apartment on the 3800 block of Caravelle parkway around 6 a.m. Thursday morning due to a domestic disturbance between a man and a woman. The man was arrested and taken to jail. The specific details about that arrest are unknown at this time.

The man, who officers say was the woman’s boyfriend, was released from jail later Thursday. He went back to the apartment where the woman was staying and where the previous disturbance happened, according to officers.

Emergency dispatchers received a call about a stabbing victim at a convenience store near the apartments around 10:20 p.m. The man who had been arrested earlier was found with a stab wound and taken to the hospital.

Officers went back to the apartment where he was arrested to investigate. Officers say when they arrived, it appeared the door had been kicked in.

The woman told officers that the man stabbed himself, and the man told the officers the woman stabbed him.

"We don’t have definites but the investigation is pointing towards, it may very well have been self inflicted," Officer Gaines with the Corpus Christi Police Department said.

The extent of the man’s injuries are unknown but officers do not think the wound was life-threatening.

The woman was not injured and is cooperating in the investigation.
