A special mass was held to pray for those who work hard to keep us safe.

Most Precious Blood Church held a blue Sunday mass to pray for our Police Officers, Emergency Medical Services, Fire Department and HALO flight members.

Every first responder that attended the special mass was brought up to the front of the church as parishioners prayed for their safety while out on the field.

A husband and wife that both serve the Sinton volunteer fire department say this is a blessing.

Clemente Sanchez, a Sinton volunteer fire department member, says, "Its an honor they have a special mass for us for what we do."
"We enjoy what we do, enjoy helping people. We enjoy saving lives, protecting property. Even though it may cost us our lives, we are there for the public,"

The mass also honored retired CCPD Commander Ken Starrs.

He died in November of 2016 when his vehicle was hit by a train while on his way to work.
