The South Texas Botanical Garden has made some birding history.

A rare bird was spotted there Saturday morning.

It’s known as the Northern Jacana; the last documented Texas sighting was in Hidalgo County in October 2016.

The Northern Jacana which was spotted here was still foraging at the Botanical Garden’s Gator Lake today.

The sighting happened just days before Corpus Christi’s second Annual "Birdiest Festival in America."
