It can wait. That’s the message that the Texas Department of Transportation wants everyone to hear, loud and clear, about the dangers of distracted driving.

Tonight at Fiesta de la Flor, TxDoT’s "Heads Up, Texas" initiative, along with AT&T’s "It Can Wait" campaign, will set-up a distracted driving virtual reality experience on site to demonstrate the dangers of distracted driving.

TxDoT hopes to change distracted-driving behaviors that last year resulted in 100,687 crashes, 444 deaths and 2,889 serious injures. In Corpus Christi, there were 515 crashes resulting from distracted driving in 2017.

The virtual reality experience will be set-up at North Bayfront Park from 4:30 p.m. Friday until midnight.
