August is supposed to be the month that families can relax and fish while enjoying the paradise town of Port Aransas.

But all of that changed on August 25, 2017.

Dolphin Dock’s Deep Sea Fishing is known for it’s family-owned and intelligent fishing staff.

During the weekend of Hurricane Harvey, all the families that worked at Dolphin Dock’s chose to head out to sea and get away from what would be a disastrous situation.

96 hours later, all boats made it back to their slips.

With communication only through Facebook, pictures would not do it justice when they saw how devastated their building was.

“There was about three and half feet of standing water in the building, and sludge everywhere that was from the bottom of the bay,” says Cathy Kelsey, “it was traumatizing.”

Cathy and her family said that even though it was tough, they were able to get the business up and running just two weeks after the storm.

Dolphin Dock’s says the winter months were slower than normal, but to their surprise Spring Break was jam packed.

With the new building in the works, they anticipate a great summer and even better year than 2017.

“It’s a new beginning, it’s bittersweet.”

The new building should be finished by the end of June or start of July.
