Sunrise Mall is opening its doors to small business owners.
On Saturday, it is hosting "Popup Shops at Sunrise Mall". More than a dozen business and boutique owners will be there selling clothes, jewelry, Tupperware and other goods at the mall’s center court.
The organizer of the event Lori Gonzalez-Ybarra hopes this will bring more people to Sunrise Mall.
"I remember it back in the 80s and 90s and this was the mall to be at. looking at it right now, it’s kind of sad. So, i want to kind of build it back up and since all the big box stores left, I think small businesses can bring it back to life." said Gonzalez-Ybarra.
Saturday’s event is free and runs from noon until 4 p.m. Gonzalez-Ybarra says if the event goes well, they will plan another "pop up shop" later this year.
