Suspect dead following officer involved shooting

One person is dead, another arrested, and another on the run after an officer involved shooting.

Just after midnight, a multiple people broke into an apartment on the 2300 block of Capitan Drive.

A woman called 9-1-1, saying that at least one of the men was armed with a long gun.

According to Corpus Christi Police, the first arriving officers confronted the offenders as they were leaving the apartment and one armed offender was shot by police.  

He died at the scene.

CCPD arrested a 25-year-old man, while a man between the ages of 20 and 30 took off on foot.

He was last seen headed north, and police are continuing to search for him.

It is not clear exactly how many people total invaded that apartment, or the names or ages of those people.

The robbers physically assaulted several of the apartment residents before police arrived.

A firearm was recovered at the scene.

An investigation is underway.

Two Corpus Christi Police Officers are being placed on paid administrative leave in accordance with department practice and policy.

It is unclear if this home invasion is related toMonday’s deadly shooting in the London District.
