Spring Break in Corpus Christi was a success.
The Corpus Christi Convention and Visitors Bureau says between March 10th and 18th, 88-percent of Corpus Christi hotels were booked and it was the largest hotel occupancy number they’ve ever had.
Corpus Christi CVB CEO Paulette Kluge said several groups helping with the recovery from Hurricane Harvey are still staying in local hotel rooms. So, that helped increase the hotel occupancy number this year.
Also, the C.C. Convention and Visitors Bureau did tons of marketing in Austin, San Antonio, Houston and the Rio Grande Valley.
"We really ramped up the number of advertising TV spots that we did, radio and print because there were people that really believed we were really damaged by the hurricane. So, we front loaded a lot of our advertising to let people know we were open for business." Kluge added.
Meanwhile, the Convention and Visitors Bureau is now working on promoting Fiesta de la Flor, which will be held April 13th and 14th. According to Kluge, hotels downtown are sold out and they are working to find rooms for some of the artists and media outlets covering the annual event.
