The Nueces County District Attorney’s office announced new developments today on the murder of Breanna Wood. Mark Gonzales, the district attorney, said four people have been arrested, and three others are wanted in connection with Wood’s death and homicide. In total, seven people were indicted by a grand jury.
The main suspect, Joseph Tejeda, allegedly shot and killed Wood in October of last year. Her body was discovered at an abandoned home near Bluntzer a few months later.
Tajeda was charged and arrested, but today the DA announced he is charged with capital murder and will face the death penalty. Other charges he also faces include engaging in organized criminal activity, tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse.
Another suspect, Sandra Vasquez, will also be facing the death penalty. She has been charged engaging in organized criminal activity and aggravated robbery too.
A third suspect, Christopher Gonzales was charged with capital murder and engaging in criminal activity as well.
Before continuing reading the list of names and charges, Gonzales added that Wood’s murder was a network of individuals doing a lot of bad things.
Theodore Allen, another suspect faces an aggravated robbery charge, which is a first degree felony.
Three more suspects, Gregorio Vega-Cruz, Magdalena Yvette Carvajal and Rosalinda Musella are charged with tampering with evidence.
Now, more than a year later since Wood’s disappearance, her family has some answers.
"Her family has been part of this case, and this is just the beginning of hopefully some closure eventually, that they can have for their family," Gonzales said.
After the announcement, Fallon Wood, Breanna Wood’s mother?, got emotional as she looked at photos of the suspects in connection with her daughter’s murder.
"I’m so happy, to get all of these people off the streets," she said.
Gonzales, Carvajal and Musella are still wanted by police. If you have any information on those individuals, you are asked to contact authorities.
