Robstown little girl’s death ruled homicide; mother in custody

UPDATE: Robstown Police Department confirmed that suspect Chasity Herrera has been arrested and taken to Nueces County Jail on charges listed below.

UPDATE: Chasity Herrera has been located and arrested on charges of Murder and Injury to a Child by Omission.

Arrest warrants have been issued for a Robstown mother after authorities ruled the death of her infant child a homicide.

Robstown Police Department said in a press release that an investigation into the death of an 18-month-old baby began after "unexplained injuries" were found. The Nueces County Medical Examiner then ruled the death a homicide on December 19.

As previously reported, the incident reportedly took place back on December 18, when officers arrived to the child’s home in the 500 block of Pat Shutter Road. There, they found and transported the infant to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Robstown P.D. obtained two arrest warrants for the child’s mother, 19-year-old Chasity Herrera, for Murder and Injury to a Child by Omission. A bond of $750,000 was set for the murder charge and $250,000 for Injury to a Child by Omission.
