After five years as a print journalist with Scripps-Howard, including a stint at the Corpus Christi Caller-Times, Chief Investigative Reporter Rick Spruill joined the KRIS 6 News team and helped launch the 6 Investigates brand, in 2013.
He is very much a believer in power of combining investigative reporting with simple, easy-to-understand storytelling, and that all stories should be worth the time you invest in watching them.
He has a history degree from Baylor University, which, believe it or not, comes in handy almost every day.
His award-winning work has helped rewrite state laws concerning predatory teachers and the school officials who protect them, exposed corruption, and uncovered government waste and consumer scams.
When not chasing stories, he’s with his family and friends or he’s out fishing the bay. Or, both.
