LONDON (AP) — Johnny Depp’s libel case against a British tabloid that accused him of assaulting ex-wife Amber Heard has wrapped up, with Depp's lawyer claiming Heard is a “compulsive liar” who concocted allegations of abuse. Depp's lawyer, David Sherborne, said in his closing arguments that Depp has never hit a woman in his life. Depp is suing the publisher of The Sun and its executive editor at Britain's High Court over an April 2018 article that called him a “wife-beater.” The newspaper's lawyers say the story is true because Depp "regularly and systematically abused his wife.” Judge Andrew Nicol is expected to hand down his ruling in a few weeks.
