CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A man had to be taken to a hospital after threatening Corpus Christi Police officers late Sunday night.
Officers say they were called to the Candelwood Apartments on the 2000 block of Airline for a disturbance shortly after 10 PM.
When they arrived, residents of the complex say the man was being loud, yelling profanities and racial slurs.
Officers tried to communicate with the man through his apartment door, when he started making threats, telling the officers he would use deadly force against them.
A brief standoff ensued as CCPD waited for additional backup, and attempts to communicate with the man continued.
After about an hour, officers forced their way into the man's apartment, and placed him in handcuffs.
No weapons were found in the apartment.
The man is described to be in his 40's.
Officers did not specify what charges, if any, would be filed, but say the man was taken to Spohn Shoreline for a mental evaluation.
No one was hurt in the incident.
