WASHINGTON, D.C. — There’s an update on the six Citgo executives who are being held in Venezuela, including Corpus Christi resident Alirio Zambrano.
U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz is asking the Trump administration for sanctions on some members of the Venezuelan government to pressure them to release the “Citgo 6.”
Zambrano and the other men were imprisoned in 2017 on embezzlement and treason charges.
Cruz wants sanctions imposed on seven members of the Venezuelan military and intelligence services he says are linked to the ongoing imprisonment of the Citgo 6.
