CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Corpus Christi police arrested a 27-year-old man who was connected with a string of burglaries early Sunday morning in the 3200 block of South Alameda.
Caleb Nipper was arrested by police early Sunday morning with a brick in his hand along with merchandise from several nearby locations he allegedly had burglarized.
After they were dispatched to the area to assist an owner with a burglary alarm, officers discovered the glass door to the business had been broken. They also noticed that the glass door to a second store nearby was broken with some merchandise from the store outside the front door on the ground.
Officers also checked the surrounding businesses and discovered that several additional stores had been burglarized or damaged.
After reviewing video at one of the stores, they saw footage that showed a Hispanic male with no shirt and shorts. Shortly after being on the scene, another call was received in the 2700 block of S. Staples St. in reference to a destruction in progress. The caller gave a description of the suspect which matched the description from the above burglaries.
Officers also located a shopping cart in the area with dozens of additional stolen items. Surveillance footage and witnesses observed Nipper with the cart and stolen property.
As of Sunday morning, CCPD officers were waiting on several business owners to determine the extent of damage caused and if entry was made into any additional businesses in the area.
