CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Our weekly local fishing report tells you how to catch your limit in our Coastal Bend waters this week.

Popular local fishing guide Joey Farah has a few tips on how to maximize your fishing potential.

"The first thing I'm going to tell them to do is hit the beach," he said. "We've got light seas and winds, green water all the way up to the beach."

Farah says this weekend is good for taking the family to the beach.

The jetties in Port Aransas, the Fish Pass and the Packery are full of fish right now.

"We're looking at a big redfish run, large big giant redfish," Farah said. "The best thing for that is gonna be live finger mullet and and large big chunks of cut mullet.

"Throw it in the first and second guts, as well as off the very end. Live shrimp under cock and cork floating along those rocks, are really good now for sand trout and specks - and silver spoons in the surf is really unbelievable right now for Spanish mackerel."

Farah also has some specific ideas of where the fish are biting.

"Looking into the bays with the calm waters is really a good time to get out to those hundreds of wells out in Corpus Christi Bay," he said. "There's really good trout fishing out there at those wells free lining with some live shrimp with the little split sack underneath those wellheads."

And for fishing downtown, Farah also tells us what to expect.

"Downtown Corpus Christi, we got a lot of mangrove snapper along the L head and T heads," Farah said.
