CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — There won't be a 2020 Fiesta de la Flor, not in Corpus Christi anyway.
The Quintanilla family announced the festival was leaving town yesterday.
About 250,000 people came to Corpus Christi in the last five years of Fiesta de la Flor to celebrate Selena's legacy.
Those five festivals generated around $50 million for the area's tourism industry.
What happens now that the fiesta's financial impact is gone and can a replacement festival be put together to help soften the blow?
Those are some of the questions we’ll be asking.
We’ll have more coming up this evening on KRIS 6 News.
A statement from the Quintanilla family did not give a reason for their decision.
They simply said the Fiesta de la Flor would no longer be held in Corpus Christi.
Hermann and Hermann signed on as Fiesta de la Flor's presenting sponsor earlier this year.
The firm told KRIS 6 News it is still interested in sponsoring the festival wherever it's held.
