CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Ahead of our Saturday Night Football Broadcast in Rockport, we decided to visit the town to see what it has to offer.

Living in the Coastal Bend has its advantages, and one of the biggest, is the beach. A hidden gem, just north of Corpus Christi, is Rockport.

"(It‘s) my favorite place, along with other peoples’ place because in 2018, it was named the #1 beach in texas by USA Today's 10 best, and we're pretty proud of that," said Sandy Jumper, the vice-president of the Rockport-Fulton Chamber of Commerce.

The beach draws people into Rockport, but that's not all it has to offer.

“We have something called Aransas Pathways, which means you can go to different venues,” Jumper said. “It's all birding, nature; We have history, kayaking, hike-and-bike trails -- so there's a little bit of something for young and old to do around here."

Rockport also is home to the official Texas Maritime Museum, where schools from all over the Coastal Bend come to visit.

Take a stroll downtown, and you'll find something for the whole family to do.

“We have Rockport Center for the Arts,” Jumper said. “We have the history center, and we are a culture arts district downtown: We actually have a one-room school house in Fulton, so that's a neat thing. And restaurants, shops: You name it we got it."

Another famous spot in Rockport: Charlotte Plummers. They have the best boiled shrimp in town.

So, if you haven't already been to Rockport, come enjoy this scenic coastal town right in our backyard.
