Micro Loan Day to kick-off 8th Lemonade Day activities

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX — Lemonade Day is a fun and refreshing community event that teaches kids the skills they need to be successful in the future. The idea is to provides the opportunity for children to start, own and operate their own business -- a lemonade stand!

Before setting up a stand on Saturday, April 25, participants will register online to prepare for Lemonade Day. Leading up to Lemonade Day, youth will learn to set goals, develop a business plan, establish a budget, seek investors and provide customer service. It all comes to life when lemonade stands open for business across the Coastal Bend!

Each child keeps all revenue earned from their business and after repaying investors, is encouraged to save a little, spend a little, and give a little back to the community.

New this year, the United Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce Foundation will be offering the inaugural ‘Lemonade Micro Loan Day.’ This Saturday, March 14, those who need help funding a lemonade stand will have the opportunity to get up to a $25 loan to start their business. The first 20 kids who show up at one of the following locations are guaranteed a loan!

  • Coastal Community and Teachers Credit Union (6810 Saratoga Blvd.)
  • First Community Bank (5406 Everhart Rd.)
  • RBFCU (5253 S. Staples St. & 3002 Cimarron Blvd.)
