CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Ask those who lead the Broken Chains Recovery Center, and they will tell you that it is a fellowship of addicts and alcoholics who have joined together to help one another through the struggles and temptations of addiction.

Ask those who have been a part of the group, and they will tell you that Broken Chains is a place to find hope and encouragement.

This month, the non-profit group is celebrating their 10th anniversary of helping not only those mentioned above, but also veterans and the homeless. The faith-based recovery center conducts Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous gatherings each week, along with 12-Step Meetings. They also operate two sober living facilities, one for men and one for ladies.

There is a current need to expand their meeting area in order to continue to serve those who come to them looking for help. To that end, a Recovery Golf Tournament will take place Saturday, August 17 at the Gabe Lozano Golf Center (4401 Old Brownsville Rd.).

The 4-man scramble shotgun start will begin at 8 a.m. Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 teams. The cost is $80 per player and $320 per team. Both breakfast and lunch will be served.

Sponsorships are available.

To register, call Charlotte at (361) 947-5115 or email cndavis@student.uiwtx.edu.
