CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Spring break will be here before you can blink, so why not plan now to spend it with a good book?

Local members of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) are once again holding a book sale at the Neyland Library (1230 Carmel Pkwy.).

The book sale is one of the events that helps the group continue their work of offering scholarships to local college students. They also engage in various community and youth projects, and help maintain and grow AAUW library and literacy programs.

The sale runs today and tomorrow from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

A variety of unique books will be offered in 33 of categories, with prices starting as low as $1. This sale will also include a table of special books emphasizing Texana, children’s books, coffee table books, cookbooks, history and more.

Since the group’s founding in 1881, members of the AAUW have examined and taken positions on the fundamental educational, social, economic and political issues of the day. It is an organization that bills itself as the nation’s leading voice promoting equity and education for women and girls.

There are more than 1,000 AAUW branches across the country, including one here in Corpus Christi, which began in 1927.

All proceeds benefit the Corpus Christi Public Libraries, local women's scholarship funds, and AAUW Community Outreach projects for women and girls.
