Annual Walk for Memory helping people live with Alzheimer’s

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX — According to the Alzheimer’s Association, some 5.8 million American’s are living with Alzheimer’s Disease. By 2050, that number is projected to rise to nearly 14 million. It is the 6th leading cause of death in the United States and kills more people that breast cancer and prostate cancer combined.

In order to raise awareness and funds for education, resources and respite, the 12th Annual Walk for Memory will take place Saturday at The Water’s Edge (402 S. Shoreline Blvd.).

Opening Ceremonies begin at 9 a.m. with sponsor recognition and a Resource Fair, to be followed at 9:45 a.m. with a Zumba warm-up.

The 2-mile walk begins at 10 a.m. and there will be food and prizes available at 10:30 a.m. along with entertainment, games and activities.

Awards will be given to the Top Individual or Team, Top Corporate Team, Youngest/Oldest Walker, Best Unique Outfit, Most Spirited Team and School Spirit.

All proceeds from this event will remain in the Coastal Bend.
