CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Pre-kindergarten students at Oak Park Elementary School celebrated Christmas a little early this year.

With the help of some elves from the CCISD police department, each student was able to take home a teddy bear today.

The stuffed animals were donated by customers at PetSmart and through community donations.

This is the second year the CCISD police has partnered with PetSmart to bring holiday cheer to local schools.

“Every time we can put a positive message in and associate it with something positive we like to do that, so I throw in the message,” CCISD Police Chief Kirby Warnke said. “Listen to mom and dad, be good citizens, be good students, so we like to reinforce what we're already teaching at CCISD.”

CCISD police will deliver the Bears to 1,200 students at six elementary schools today.
