CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A local homeless shelter got a huge gift from the Port of Corpus Christi today.
The port donated $15,000 and stacks of canned goods to Corpus Christi's Mission 9-1-1.
The non-profit offers shelter, clothing, transportation assistance and opportunities to learn vocational skills to roughly 30 individuals per month.
With the help of the port, the mission now will be able to restock its food pantry and continue to offer assistance to those in need.
